What is Neuromuscular Dentistry?
According to the TMJ (temporomandibular joint) Association, Neuromuscular Dentistry is a treatment philosophy used by dentists to correct a “malalignment” of the jaw at the temporomandibular joint and create a balanced bite. Using multiple computerized instruments, your dentist will measure your jaw movements and jaw muscle activity to determine the degree of your problem and to establish a “physiologic rest position” for your jaw.
By correcting your jaw to the optimal position using Neuromuscular dentistry, it allows us the chance to relieve the muscle spasm, pain, and discomfort that some patients may be experiencing to address long-term management of your symptoms.
